Who We Are
Daffodils for Doris is a UK registered charity that empowers working women in developing and emerging economies. Our mission is to boost women's confidence, build their capability, expand their networks, and support them to set and achieve ambitious goals.
We believe that women have substantial unmet potential: to be more successful, more economically empowered, and happier. Our community-led approach focuses on mentoring young women by utilising a global platform of successful career women coming from a myriad of sectors.
Our Story
Daffodils for Doris was born from a simple but powerful conviction: that no woman should have to navigate the challenges of her career alone. The charity is named in honour of Doris — a woman of extraordinary resilience, warmth, and quiet determination — whose life embodied the belief that when women support one another, everything becomes possible.
The idea took root when a group of women with careers spanning international development, business leadership, and the social sector came together and asked themselves a question: what would have changed for us — and for the women we grew up around — if we had each had a mentor? The answer was everything.
They registered the charity in the United Kingdom in 2016 and began building a structure around that idea — one grounded in evidence, guided by lived experience, and powered entirely by volunteers who believe in the potential of women in emerging economies to reshape their own futures, and those of their communities.
